Australian Postcode Boundaries for Google Earth (KMZ)

I searched for ages, and couldn't find where to get a KMZ / KML file for Google Earth that had all the Australian Postcode Boundaries in it...

So I made one based on the 1270.0.55.003 - Australian Statistical Geography Standard (ASGS): Volume 3 - Non ABS Structures, July 2011.

I claim no additional copyright on this, but please ensure you are able to use the data according to the ABS Copyright rules

Here is the download link

Great, is it possible to show the labels of each postcode whilst using this?

Thank you for sharing this, I've found it very useful. I'm based on the Gold Coast QLD, would you be willing to speak with me about how you were able to produce this? mail@groutpro.com.au

Hi there,

Thanks for this. How on earth did you re-create the boundary lines with the downloads from ABS?

I wrote a little script that pulled the ABS data apart and converted it into the XML that makes up the Google KMZ file.

hey fosnez - thanks so much for this! i was struggling to get the data from the govt website, and it was coming in (when converted to kml) @ almost 250 megs! kept crashing google-fusion maps whenever i tried to upload. you're a lifesaver!

You're awesome

Can you do the same for KML / GeoJSON or TopoJSON?

@Sam Gray - KMZ is just a KML file that is zipped. I don't know much about GeoJSON, but maybe you could use this?
